London Jewish Forum is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic volunteer to help modernise and update our website. The site currently runs on WordPress.com, and we are looking to refresh its design, improve functionality, and make it easier for our team to update in the future.

You will be responsible for:

  • Redesigning and updating the website in line with our existing structure.
  • Enhancing usability and visual appeal while keeping the same web address.
  • Supporting the move to a modern, user-friendly platform that is easy for the team to update and manage.
  • Providing advice on tools or features that could improve the site’s accessibility and impact.

By volunteering to redevelop the London Jewish Forum’s website, you will help strengthen our ability to represent Jewish Londoners and amplify the voices of our community across Greater London. Your work will directly support our advocacy by raising the profile of issues Jewish Londoners care about and providing an up-to-date, accessible space to share regular updates and promote our campaigns, events, and projects.

This volunteer role directly supports our mission to promote community cohesion, facilitate positive engagement between Jewish Londoners and public institutions, and ensure that the Jewish perspective is heard and represented. The improved website will allow the public to better engage with our work and enable us to communicate our contributions and concerns to policymakers, civic leaders, and wider audiences. A modern and accessible website will help us communicate more effectively, boost engagement, increase recognition, and ultimately achieve greater impact.

What additional skills or experience you should have:

  • Experience and strong interest in website design and development (especially WordPress).
  • Knowledge of user-friendly design principles and web accessibility.
  • Attention to detail and a creative approach to layout and presentation.
  • Ability to work independently and follow a strategy.

This opportunity is particularly suitable for someone aspiring to a career in IT, digital communications, or web design who would like to apply their skills to a meaningful community project.

What training we will provide for you:

You will receive a full briefing on our current website and digital strategy, as well as detailed instructions outlining what we would like to achieve. We will provide regular support from our team to check on your progress and support your work.

What you will get out of volunteering for us:

This is a unique opportunity to apply and enhance your website development and design skills while making a tangible contribution to a charity that supports Jewish life across London. You will gain hands-on experience managing a website redevelopment project, adding a valuable experience and real-world example to your professional portfolio and CV. You will also improve your understanding of how digital tools can support community organisations and advocacy work. Your work will make a real impact, directly benefitting a respected communal organisation and helping strengthen its voice and visibility. We are happy to be flexible on location and/or times if required.
