Chai is looking for caring volunteer drivers to bring clients to and from its centres in Manchester. Own car is essential. This is an important role as clients often build relationships with regular drivers and are an additional support to those going through a cancer journey.
Responsibilities
- Provide transportation for clients to and from Chai centres in Manchester, enabling access to Chai’s services.
Qualifications
- Warm, compassionate individuals who are flexible and able to work on an ad hoc basis.
- Experience or empathy related to cancer; personal or family experience is desirable. If you have had personal or family experience of cancer, a time gap of at least one year is suggested.
Training
- Chai provides training before starting the role and offers ongoing training.

Chai Cancer Care is a Jewish community’s national cancer support organisation offering physical, emotional and practical support with care, sensitivity, and confidentiality. Services include counselling, therapies, advocacy and advice, and group and social activities. It is available for individuals, couples, families, friends, work colleagues, teens and children from as young as three. Chai operates 11 centres across the UK, with its flagship centre in Hendon, North West London. The Home Support Service extends access to clients who cannot attend centres due to surgery, treatment, or health status. Services are also available nationally and internationally via telephone and Skype.
