UK Jewish Film exhibits the best of world Jewish cinema in the UK and internationally, provides support and training to new and emerging filmmakers, and delivers education events for a wide variety of audiences. The UK Jewish Film Festival (5-15 November) this year celebrates its 30th anniversary and will be in cinemas nationwide and online. We are a BAFTA-qualifying festival and the largest festival of our type in Europe.
Volunteer placements are designed to provide successful candidates with hands-on experience in the production and/or marketing of film festivals. They will provide structured opportunities for the right candidates and many of our former trainees have gone on to successful careers in the film and TV industries.
We are currently looking for two enthusiastic trainees to support the Festival Team in the delivery of our UK Jewish Film Festival 2025. Placements are awarded to enthusiastic candidates who wish to build on their skills in this environment and gain a broader understanding through practical experience.
The position will start anytime between September to November. Trainees are expected to work a minimum of two days a week until the beginning of the festival, when hours will increase to accommodate for the festival. As our festival takes place during November, you must be available during that time.
UK Jewish Film is an inclusive working environment, and we operate on a hybrid working basis. However, during the festival, we do expect trainees to work some unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends, to help cover the 10-day festival in venues across London.
UK Jewish Film aims to develop a culture where Jewish film is recognised and enjoyed by the widest possible audience, and to bring Jewish related film to the heart of British culture. UK Jewish Film – through its flagship, nationwide, UK Jewish Film Festival (with approx 15,000 visitors), showcases a wide range of feature films, documentaries and shorts, which reflect the diversity of Jewish and Israeli life and culture. Its online festival platform and On Demand service also brings its unique provision of film to many more people. The organisation runs acclaimed education programmes for schools that reach hundreds of young people each year. It commissions at least seven new short films per year reflecting British-Jewish stories, which get premiered at the annual festival.
UK Jewish Film’s work encourages pride in and knowledge of Jewish culture amongst younger generations and promotes understanding and awareness towards Jewish and Israeli people and culture. The next UK Jewish Film Festival will take place from 7 – 17 November 2024 in London, bringing the best of contemporary Jewish cinema from around the world, to a diverse range of UK audiences. Highlights of the Festival will tour to 14 UK cities until 29th November 2024.
