The role supports delivery of high-quality catering and hospitality services across Jewish Care care homes, community centres, and campus environments. The postholder will assist with basic food preparation, food service, and the preparation of dining areas while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and customer service. The role helps ensure residents, tenants, visitors, and colleagues receive a welcoming, safe, and positive dining experience.

  • Basic food preparation including vegetables, salads, and sandwiches
  • Maintain a clean, hygienic, and presentable environment
  • Prepare and arrange food counters and dining areas, ready for service
  • Serve hot and cold food and beverages
  • Operate the till and conduct cashing up when required

Working hours: 12 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 12 noon to 3 pm (3 hours per day). Some weekend shifts may be required.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in a busy kitchen environment, working independently and within a team
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to undertake this qualification)
  • Excellent communication skills, confident speaking to a range of people
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Willingness to undertake appropriate training (e.g., supervision, NVQ training)
  • Team-oriented and flexible, with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service
