This job offers an exciting opportunity as a Senior Mashgiach (Kosher Food Supervisor), where you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of kosher dietary compliance. As our Senior Mashgiach, you will be responsible for ensuring strict adherence to kosher dietary laws (kashrut) throughout food preparation and handling processes. This includes collaboration with kitchen staff, suppliers, and management to maintain exceptional kosher compliance standards.
As a key figure in upholding Jewish dietary practices, the Mashgiach provides guidance, supervision, and support in a professional and respectful manner. The Senior Mashgiach will supervise our mashgiach, liaise with stakeholders and management, conduct flash meetings with kitchen staff, work with front line teams in resources, assist the smooth running of the kashrut process, and provide training to staff when required. This post is working from 7am to 4.30pm, 5 days per week 42.5 hours including breaks.
What you will be doing:
- Kashrut Supervision: Inspect and approve ingredients and supplies for kosher compliance. Oversee food preparation, cooking, and serving to maintain kashrut adherence. Ensure proper separation of meat and dairy and supervise koshering of utensils and equipment. Minimise food wastage while upholding kosher protocols.
- Food Safety: Ensure all kashrut processes align with Food Safety standards. Operate within Jewish Care's Food Safety management system.
- Training & Collaboration: Train and guide staff on kosher laws and practices. Liaise with kitchen staff, suppliers, and external certifiers to ensure compliance. Resolve kashrut-related issues promptly and effectively.
What You Will Need:
- Essential: Recognised Kashrut certification/training, knowledge of Kashrut, ability to read kosher certifications and Hebrew texts, and previous experience in a kosher food environment. Proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented with strong communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Desirable: Food Safety Level 2 (training provided if not qualified).
