This role sits within the merchandising and planning function of a luxury retail business, supporting sales forecasting, inventory planning and production coordination to ensure optimal product availability across a multi-location retail network. The position works closely with merchandising, production and operational teams to align demand forecasts with production capacity, monitor stock levels and support data-led planning decisions that maximise business performance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the review and adjustment of monthly production plans in line with sales demand and inventory requirements.
- Assist in allocating production orders across workshops or suppliers based on business priorities, capacity and delivery timelines.
- Liaise with production teams to track progress and ensure alignment with planned delivery schedules.
- Coordinate production timelines and maintain accurate delivery and tracking records.
- Support the translation of demand forecasts into production and inventory plans to ensure appropriate stock availability.
- Monitor stock levels to support reordering and maintain optimal inventory coverage.
- Identify potential inventory risks, including stock shortages or slow-moving items, and escalate recommendations for corrective action.
- Track open orders and ensure timely follow-up to support product availability.
- Provide analytical support for sales and production forecasting and planning activities.
- Maintain and update key planning and tracking documents covering stock, sales, open orders and deliveries.
- Support the preparation of planning reports and analysis for internal merchandising and business reviews.
- Maintain production status reports and provide updates on lead times and delivery schedules to internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between sales forecasts, production planning and inventory requirements.
- Provide planning and delivery updates to support commercial and operational decision-making.
- Assist with ad hoc analysis, reporting and operational tasks as required.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, merchandising or a related field.
- 2–3 years’ experience in merchandising planning, supply chain planning or retail analytics, ideally within a luxury or premium environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales and inventory data.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience managing data and planning reports.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- An interest in jewellery or diamonds would be advantageous.
