Brian Meehan Racing is seeking a motivated Pupil Assistant to join our professional and friendly team at our yard on Manton Estate, Marlborough. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and enthusiastic individual to play a key role within the team, assisting the head lad and assistant trainer in the day-to-day running of the yard. This position comes with the opportunity to progress to a more senior role with the yard for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting the head person and assistant trainer with the smooth running of the yard
- Overseeing the yard at weekends on a rota basis
- Daily checking and monitoring of horses
- Feeding and general horse care
- Assisting vets
- Providing routine medical care and treatments
- Riding
Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a racing yard
- Confident and capable rider
- Strong horsemanship and attention to detail
- Reliable, organised and able to take responsibility
- Good team player with a positive attitude
Working Conditions & Benefits:
- Working 1 in 3 weekends with an afternoon off each week
