We are currently seeking a PR and Communications Director to lead our public relations and communications strategy across the EMEA region. In this role, you will create and implement media relations strategies, partnering closely with local PR agencies, marketing and sales teams, and other stakeholders, to secure high-level placements across print, broadcast, and online media.
You will succeed in this role if you have a solid understanding of market dynamics and media landscapes across key EMEA countries and have experience driving proactive media storytelling initiatives, supporting local campaigns, and executing effective PR programs, including taking charge of comms programs at regional and industry events. Additionally, you will help the VP of PR and Communications implement CEO and executive communication programs in the region and support with crisis communications as needed.

PR and Communications is an incredibly strategic and visible function at JetBrains, and we are looking for a driven, experienced, and collaborative professional who will thrive and make an impact in a dynamic environment. This role reports to the VP of PR and Communications and will be based in Europe, with occasional travel opportunities.
Responsibilities:- Develop, lead, and implement regional PR strategies, ensuring messaging is consistent across all channels.
- Manage PR agency relationships, budgets, and vendor selection processes, collaborating closely with the Strategic Operations lead.
- Drive PR agency request for proposals (RFPs) and onboarding as we scale our media program across new markets.
- Proactively identify media opportunities and secure high-level placements across print, broadcast, and online media.
- Drive high-impact media programs around key JetBrains and industry events across the region.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and prepare executives and spokespeople for external engagements, including press interactions and events.
- Help the VP of PR and Communications drive executive communications opportunities across EMEA, as required.
- Partner with the Head of Crisis Communications to advise on regional incidents and actions to mitigate risks to the brand.
- Work with key stakeholders to deliver impactful media storytelling that drives awareness and elevates our brand.
- Identify opportunities to expand and mentor a dedicated PR team within the region.
- A minimum of 12–15 years of experience working in PR and communications.
- A degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- Native-level fluency in written and spoken English.
- Strong executive presence and the ability to work with leadership teams to develop impactful regional media programs.
- Proven track record building and driving media strategy across multiple EMEA markets.
- Strong relationships with key media across technology, business, national, and trade sectors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to break down and translate nuanced, complex technical issues into compelling narratives that generate impactful media coverage.
- Previous experience building and leading PR teams across multiple countries.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic environment.
- An understanding of the software development industry.
- Previous experience working with developers.
- Proficiency in additional languages, including German.
