Vacancy: Global Justice Engagement Officer
Jesuit Missions is on the lookout for a Global Justice Engagement Officer to join its team!
They will inspire individuals and communities to deepen their understanding of global justice issues and take meaningful action in solidarity with vulnerable communities in the Global South.
Rooted in the values and mission of Jesuit Missions, the role will create pathways from awareness and education to advocacy and campaigning, ultimately contributing to positive social and environmental change.
The postholder will develop engaging educational resources, build relationships with schools, parishes and young adults, coordinate events and campaigns, and connect audiences in the UK with the lived experiences of Jesuit Missions’ project partners across the Global South.
Through storytelling, education and engagement, the role will encourage people to recognise the impact of their choices and respond with compassion, solidarity and action.

For over 60 years, we have partnered with communities in some of the world’s most vulnerable regions to promote social justice and human dignity. Historically connected with Guyana, India, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, our work now spans the globe, supporting initiatives where more than 14,000 Jesuits and countless lay collaborators serve. JM delivers a wide range of programmes in low‑income countries, including:
- Supporting 300,000 people in India to access basic rights, including an anti‑human trafficking project in Darjeeling.
- Driving an environmental programme in Madagascar, featuring youth‑led advocacy for climate action.
- Advancing education, women’s empowerment, agricultural sustainability, and skills training in South Sudan, one of the poorest nations in the world.

About the Role
The Global Justice Engagement Officer will inspire individuals and communities to deepen their understanding of global justice issues and take meaningful action in solidarity with vulnerable communities in the Global South. Location: Wimbledon, London (remote working will be considered from across the UK).
Team members are able to work from home up to 40% of their weekly hours after successful completion of their probation period.
Reports to: Community Engagement Manager.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week. The role will include occasional evening or weekend work for which TOIL will be given.
Benefits
- Salary: c.£32 - £35k depending on location and experience.
- Holiday: 33 days including Bank Holidays.
- Pension: 7.5 % employer contribution dependent on 2.5 % employee contribution.
Key Responsibilities
Awareness Through Education
- Develop and deliver educational resources, workshops and programmes for schools, colleges, universities, parishes and young adult groups.
- Create engaging content that raises awareness of global justice issues, including climate change, inequality, access to education and sustainable development.
- Facilitate reflection that connects Catholic Social Teaching, Jesuit values and global citizenship with contemporary social and environmental challenges.
- Share the experiences of Jesuit Missions' project partners through stories, case studies, presentations, digital content and partner visits.
- Ensure educational materials are accessible, relevant and aligned with curriculum and faith formation opportunities.
- Build relationships with schools, parishes and young adult groups to increase engagement with Jesuit Missions resources and programmes.
- Promote understanding of the links between local actions and global impacts.
Campaigning that Encourages Action
- Plan, coordinate and deliver campaigns that inspire meaningful participation and action.
- Create opportunities for supporters to move from awareness to engagement through petitions, events, challenges, fundraising campaigns and community action.
- Develop annual campaign plans aligned with global justice priorities and organisational objectives.
- Organise workshops, conferences, webinars, youth gatherings and parish events that promote awareness, reflection, dialogue and action.
- Use digital platforms, storytelling and creative engagement methods to broaden reach, deepen supporter engagement and increase participation.
- Evaluate the impact of campaigns and events, identifying opportunities for growth and innovation.
Advocacy that Leads to Change
- Identify opportunities for supporters to advocate for justice and human dignity on issues affecting vulnerable communities.
- Develop initiatives that empower individuals, schools, parishes and young adults to engage with decision‑makers and influence change.
- Monitor and respond to social, political and environmental developments relevant to Jesuit Missions' work.
- Collaborate with project partners and networks to ensure advocacy priorities reflect the lived realities of communities in the Global South.
- Produce briefing materials, discussion resources and action guides that enable confident participation in advocacy activities.
- Build partnerships with like‑minded organisations, networks and church communities to strengthen collective impact.
- Represent Jesuit Missions at relevant events, conferences and network gatherings.
- Any other duties to fulfil the overall purpose of the role.
