Based in the Safe Room at Carlos Place and supporting the UK retail business, the Inventory Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring the physical quality, proper storage, handling, and presentation of all stock within the retail environment. Reporting to the Inventory Control Manager, the role sits within the Inventory Control team and acts as the quality control authority for stock in the UK retail environment. The position focuses on preventative quality control, ensuring that stock is correctly handled, stored, presented and prepared for movement, while maintaining alignment between physical stock and ERP records. In addition to this primary QC focus, the role operates as a fully integrated member of the Inventory Control team, supporting core stock control activities and contributing to overall team flexibility and continuity.

Responsibilities

  • Retail Quality Control & Stock Integrity
    • Complete physical quality control checks on all stock entering and leaving the retail environment (including store transfers, loans, photo shoots and other stock movements).
    • Ensure all items meet company standards in terms of condition, presentation and readiness for display or transfer.
    • Act as a final control point prior to stock being released to retail or moved between locations.
    • Own and maintain standards for stock storage, handling and presentation across all UK retail locations.
    • Ensure correct use of storage systems, trays, packaging and protective materials within the safe room and stores.
    • Work directly with retail teams during set-up, pack down and daily operations to ensure adherence to best practice.
    • Promote and enforce correct product handling procedures, including the use of gloves and appropriate care techniques.
  • Retail Audits & Compliance
    • Conduct regular audits and spot checks across UK stores to assess adherence to stock handling, storage and care standards.
    • Address any deviations from company procedures in collaboration with Retail teams.
    • Provide feedback to management on recurring issues or risks to stock condition.
  • Retail Team Training & Best Practice
    • Deliver on-the-ground training and guidance to retail and product‑handling teams.
    • Reinforce company procedures and standards for stock care, handling and movement.
    • Support the development of a culture of accountability and best practice in product handling.
  • Issue Resolution & Cross‑Functional Working
    • Identify and escalate process issues affecting stock condition or integrity.
    • Work with Production and Workshop teams to resolve cross departmental QC issues impacting retail stock.
    • Ensure issues are addressed promptly and learnings are fed back into retail handling practices.
  • Process Improvement
    • Review and improve processes relating to stock handling, storage, packaging and transfer.
    • Make recommendations to enhance efficiency, reduce risk and improve stock protection.
    • Contribute to the development and refinement of SOPs and operational guidelines.
  • Secondary Responsibilities
    • Inventory Control Support & Cross‑Cover
      • Support the Inventory Control team with core stock control activities where required, including stocktakes, stock movements and safe room operations.
      • Provide cover during periods of absence or increased workload across the team.
      • Work collaboratively to ensure continuous coverage of both QC and stock control responsibilities.
    • Stock Movements & Record Accuracy
      • Provide a secondary check on stock transfers prepared by the Inventory Control team, ensuring alignment between physical stock and ERP records.
      • Confirm that stock movements are accurately prepared, recorded and documented prior to dispatch.
      • Support maintaining high standards of data integrity in collaboration with the Inventory Control team.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in a stock control, quality control or safe room role within a luxury retail environment.
  • Experience handling high-value goods with a strong understanding of jewellery care and safe storage.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and stock control processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of inventory control procedures and retail operations.
