Renowned diamond jeweller Jessica McCormack designs exceptional jewellery for the modern woman, creating heirlooms for future generations. Artfully blending modernity and timelessness, her mission is to create jewellery that generations of women will wear and adore.
Since launching in 2008, the brand has become known for effortlessly melding the traditional and the contemporary, combining Georgian techniques and expert craftsmanship with modern‑day design influences, eschewing trends for a unique, heirloom-inspired aesthetic. Conscious of the demands placed on today’s modern woman, Jessica designs each piece to stand out, but also to work effortlessly within a client’s lifestyle and existing wardrobe.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Store Inventory & Operations Specialist provides dedicated stock control and boutique operational support to the Harrods and Sloane Street locations. Inventory control is a core purpose of the role: maintaining accurate physical and system stock, coordinating stock movements, completing counts and leading investigation and resolution of variances. The position also acts as an on‑site operations support, helping boutiques remain organised, compliant and well supported.
This is a field-based, hands‑on role requiring regular travel between the two locations, independent judgement and close collaboration with the Inventory Control, Retail, Logistics, Facilities & Risk Management and IT teams. The role supports store operations but does not replace the central sales administration function or enter transactions on behalf of sales colleagues.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Stock control and inventory accuracy
- Book in stock deliveries accurately and promptly, checking physical items and supporting documentation against system records.
- Pick stock for outbound transfers, prepare and pack items securely, complete stock movement steps in Microsoft Business Central (BC), and hand packages to approved runners or couriers.
- Participate in all stocktakes for Harrods and Sloane Street and support preparation, counting, reconciliation and follow‑up.
- Lead investigations into inventory variances at both boutiques, establish the cause and communicate system corrections to the Inventory Control Manager. The role may process stock movements in BC but must not create, remove or adjust stock quantities.
- Complete regular cycle counts, cabinet counts and ad‑hoc inventory accuracy checks, escalating unresolved discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain high standards of stock organisation in both safes, including the correct labelling, repackaging, storage and separation of items.
- Ensure stock movements, holds, loans and returns are handled in line with company inventory, security and jewellery‑handling procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and provide regular updates to the Inventory Control Manager.
- Act as a reliable operational point of contact for the Harrods and Sloane Street boutique teams, identifying and addressing day to day back of house needs.
- Assist with boutique physical set‑up and pack‑down where operational support is required.
- Ensure back of house areas, safes and operational storage spaces are orderly, clean and maintained to the expected standard.
- Monitor boutique packaging materials, including boxes, tissue paper and shopping bags, and coordinate timely replenishment.
- Monitor basic staff refreshments and coordinate timely replenishment.
- Be fully conversant with the company Retail Operations Policies and relevant SOPs, act as a point of reference for both teams and help ensure procedures are followed consistently.
- Act as a point of contact for Harrods operational stakeholders, including security and floor management, supporting store management with local operational matters.
- Coordinate with couriers and runners when receiving deliveries or handing over packages.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Site facilities, safety and security support
- Act as the site contact for external contractors, visiting engineers, and security guards, while following the direction of the Facilities & Risk Management team and store management.
- Own the local reporting and follow‑up of maintenance matters for both sites: log issues with the Facilities team, provide access to contractors, monitor progress and complete minor actions where instructed and appropriate.
- Together with store management, support site health, safety and fire safety compliance, including adherence to company policies and local statutory requirements.
- Serve as a trained Fire Warden and contribute to site safety and evacuation planning.
- Ensure accidents, incidents and near misses are reported through the company process.
- Identify and elevate site‑specific security concerns.
IT and wider operational support
- Identify and elevate IT issues to the internal IT team, track open matters and follow up where resolution is delayed or the issue affects boutique operations.
- Provide support to the wider Inventory Control team with stocktakes, safe‑room cover or other activity at additional company sites during peak periods or resource shortages.
- Undertake other reasonable store inventory and operational duties consistent with the level and primary purpose of the role.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in inventory control or store operations within a retail environment; fine jewellery environment is strongly preferred.
- Practical experience of stock movements, receiving, transfers, stocktakes, cycle counts, reconciliations and variance investigation.
- Experience using a retail ERP or stock management system; Microsoft Business Central experience is highly desirable.
- Experience handling high value, delicate or security‑sensitive goods with discretion and care.
- Confident using Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel.
- Fire Warden, H&S or manual‑handling training is desirable. Company training will be provided.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to stock accuracy and control.
- Proactive and self‑directed, able to understand the purpose of the role, set sensible daily priorities and act without continuous task by task instruction.
- Comfortable dividing time between two busy locations and ensuring neither site is overlooked.
- Investigative and problem solving skills, with persistence to identify causes and resolve issues.
- Clear, confident and professional communication with store teams, head‑office colleagues, Harrods stakeholders, contractors, couriers and security providers.
- Calm and discreet in handling sensitive information, high‑value stock or operational incidents.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
- Excellent inventory accuracy across Harrods and Sloane Street.
- Timely completion of cycle counts, stocktakes, transfers and variance investigations.
- Clear ownership and follow‑through of boutique operational issues and escalations.
- Consistent compliance with inventory, security, safety and retail operating procedures.
- Organised safes and back of house areas, with appropriate supplies available for both teams.
- Positive and effective working relationships across boutiques and central support functions.
