The daily operation of IT Systems is critical for all ScottishPower business systems and services. This role requires a deep understanding of Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and Beats), BMC Product suite, and NetScout. The responsibilities include designing, implementing, and managing tools to ensure supporting infrastructure and networking to applications are proactively monitored.
What you\'ll be doing
Working with user communities and business stakeholders across our business, you\'ll establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues across UK & Global departments and suppliers. Working with monitoring tools to ensure supporting infrastructure, networking and applications are proactively monitored enabling any potential service impacting issues to be highlighted at the earliest opportunity with remedial actions identified and implemented with automation where possible for self-healing.
This ensures our Operational Support services remain high quality and are delivered in line with our standard methodologies and frameworks.
You\'ll play a crucial role in ensuring the health and performance of IT systems. Here are some of their key tasks:
Develop and Implement Observability Frameworks: Design and deploy strategies to monitor system performance and reliability
Integrate Monitoring Tools: Set up and manage logging, monitoring, and tracing tools to provide visibility into applications and infrastructure
Data Analysis: Analyze logs, metrics, and traces to identify trends, anomalies, and performance bottlenecks
Optimize System Performance: Continuously monitor and optimize system performance to ensure high availability and reliability
Telemetry Data Management: Collect, process, and visualize telemetry data to gain insights into system behaviour
Proactive Issue Resolution: Identify and address potential issues before they impact users
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation and generate reports on system health and performance
What you\'ll bring
Proficiency in Observability Tools with deep working knowledge of Elastic.
Cloud Platforms: Experience with cloud-native applications and platforms.
Scripting Languages: Knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation.
Microservices Architecture: Understanding of microservices and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
Data Analysis: Ability to analyze logs, metrics, and traces to troubleshoot and optimize system performance.
Experience of ITIL processes (ITIL V3/ V4 Foundation Certified as a minimum)
