We\’ve also joined the Dignity Group, a major UK funeral services provider. Together, we\’re on a mission to change how the world deals with death. We\’re looking for a Probate Legal Counsel to help us achieve this.

The Role
Are you ready to shape the future of legal services? Join one of Europe\’s most innovative consumer legal tech companies as Legal Counsel, delivering industry-leading Wills and Probate solutions as part of our high-performing, newly established legal team.

You\’ll report directly to our Head of Legal and collaborate closely with our Wills and Probate teams. Occasionally, you may support other areas of legal services.

As Legal Counsel, you will oversee the legal aspects of Farewill\’s professional executorship service and probate offerings, ensuring quality and compliance across our Wills product.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on professional executor duties where Farewill Trustees is appointed as professional executor under a will.
• Contribute to the commercial strategy for Trustees\’ work, including the commercial model and partnerships with charities.
• Provide legal input into our Probate product features, marketing materials, and customer communications.
• Train our Probate Sales team on estate administration, estate valuation, and regulatory changes.
• Serve as the day-to-day escalation point for Probate-related questions/issues.
• Check wills written by our specialists for accuracy and legal compliance.
• Handle queries related to disputed wills, such as Larke v Nugus.
• Work with our Head of Legal to identify, manage, and mitigate risks.

What We\’re Looking For:

We seek a qualified Solicitor (England & Wales), ideally STEP-certified, with 3-6+ years\’ probate experience. Strong knowledge of tax and trusts is essential; familiarity with Northern Irish and Scottish wills is a plus. You should be pragmatic, commercially savvy, solutions-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills. If this describes you, we\’d love to hear from you.
