Join us in ensuring every goodbye is dignified and meaningful. We currently have an opportunity for a Crematorium General Assistant to join our team at East Riding Crematorium. As a General Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations within the crematorium. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a respectful and dignified environment while providing essential assistance to our staff and families. This meaningful opportunity calls for individuals who can seamlessly blend empathy, resilience, care, and professionalism, embodying the renowned standards that define us!
Here is what a typical day could look like for you:
- Undertaking the full range of gardening, cemetery, and horticultural tasks
- Opening and closing the site gates and book of remembrance room
- Maintaining the grounds to the highest standard in accordance with recognised horticultural and grounds maintenance practices
- Constructing, placing, fixing memorials and subsequently maintaining to the highest standard
- Operating the cremators and ancillary equipment in accordance with manufacturers' guidelines
- Ensuring the safe custody of cremated remains left in the care of the crematorium
- Ensuring the highest standards of housekeeping both in and outside the Chapel and ancillary rooms
- Preparing chapels for each service considering client needs including varying religious requirements
- Conducting witness interments and scattering of the cremated remains
- Ensuring the consistent delivery of the highest levels of client service
This role will suit someone who:
- Holds 2+ years experience in a customer service environment
- Has a high attention to detail
- Has a proactive approach and willingness to communicate effectively with a range of people, both in-person, over the phone, and via email
- Can successfully multitask and meet multiple deadlines
- Is computer literate in addition to experience using Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Is presentable at all times, acting with professional conduct and showing empathy
