Environmental, Social and Governance Specialist Please email applications directly to: acinelli@jsd.co.uk Purpose of Role: To embed ESG as a core strategic component and capability across the entire business by understanding and upholding JSD’s strong environmental, social & governance practices on every aspect of the Life Cycle of Clothes at Work and their end-of-life deconstruction. Responsible for developing, implementing & overseeing ESG initiatives that align with JSD’s company values & sustainability goals. To ensure all sourcing & development is carried out in line with the Ethical, Sustainable & Environmental objectives of the company. Working closely across all departments to drive positive change, enhance transparency, & promote sustainable practices throughout JSD’s operations. Please note this is a part-time position, three days a week on-site at our Hammersmith, London office. Key Responsibilities: Develop & implement strategies to minimise the environmental impact of our manufacturing processes, including waste management, energy consumption, & carbon emissions. Stay updated on environmental regulations & industry best practices, ensure compliance with relevant laws & standards, & ensure measures to mitigate potential risks are carried out. Collaborate with suppliers, customers, & other stakeholders to promote sustainable sourcing & responsible production practices. Implement JSD’s Net-Zero Goal, collating Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions data to track & monitor JSD’s progress to becoming Net Zero by 2040, to meet the Science-Based Target Initiative. Social Responsibility: Establish and maintain policies and practices that promote fair labour conditions, diversity, and inclusion within the company and throughout the supply chain. Monitor and evaluate social impacts, including labour practices, human rights, and community engagement. Ensure regular audits and inspections are carried out to ensure compliance with ethical standards and legal requirements. Maintain the ESG Supplier Profile & produce a quarterly report on supplier ESG progress. Develop and implement employee training programs on social responsibility and ethical conduct. Governance and Transparency: Promote transparency and accountability in corporate governance, including developing and recording the implementation of governance frameworks, policies, and procedures. Monitor and assess corporate governance practices and recommend improvements to enhance ethical decision-making. Facilitate effective communication between the company\’s leadership, employees, shareholders, and other stakeholders. Prepare reports and presentations on ESG performance and progress for internal and external stakeholders. Responsible for completing Sustainable Range Audits across existing clients & new business, as required & implementing agreed changes highlighted within the audit. Lead, advise, respond & be proactive on all sustainable requirements within new business tenders, ensuring sustainability is embedded within the tender response, responding to specific client questions & showcasing JSD’s sustainable achievements & goals. JSD Team Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, industry associations, NGOs, and community organizations. Participate in industry conferences, seminars, and other forums to stay informed about emerging ESG trends and best practices. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to foster partnerships and drive sustainable initiatives. Review all new design developments to ensure garments are designed with sustainability & end-of-life in mind. Support Design & Fabric & Trims Manager to help source & select the most appropriate fabric/trim to suit each design, where possible using fabrics that have been previously tried & tested, are sustainable, on budget & available within the given timeframe. Research & develop new sustainable fabrics & trims, keeping the Fabric & Trims Manager up to date on all new findings. Qualifications and Skills: In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, social responsibility standards, and corporate governance principles. Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) or Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective mitigation strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and engage stakeholders at all levels. Proven project management experience, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and drive initiatives to completion.
