We are pleased to invite applications for the position of Grand Divan Manager (Head of Department) at Simpson's in the Strand. The Grand Divan is the principal dining room at Simpson's, with a distinguished history and a loyal guest following. This Head of Department position is one of the most senior floor leadership roles within the group. The successful candidate will report to the General Manager and the Assistant General Manager, and will lead a management team of eight managers (four Restaurant Managers and four Floor Managers) alongside the wider Grand Divan brigade. The role works in close partnership with the Reception Manager, the Head Chef and their kitchen team.
This is a role centred on leading leaders. The Head of Department sets the standard for the room, developing and coaching the management team through monthly catch‑up sessions and ongoing mentoring, and ensuring the guest experience in the Divan is seamless across every shift. The postholder will hold responsibility for staffing and productivity levels, oversee induction and training, and support the General Manager on appraisals, budgets, P&L analysis and revenue control. Proficiency with Seven Rooms, S4labour, EPOS and cost control systems is essential, together with the commercial awareness to protect margins without compromising the standards of the room.
This position represents a step up for an experienced Restaurant Manager who is ready to lead a department together with an established management team. Applicants should demonstrate a thorough knowledge of our standards, a genuine commitment to the KING values, composure at scale and a proven record of developing managers as well as team members. Above all, the successful candidate will have an authentic appreciation of what makes the Grand Divan special.
