Why this role matters: Offshore wind is a complex, uncertain and expensive industry. From bidding, through construction, installation and operation, costs are in the $billions over multiple years and require many strategic partnerships across a dynamic geopolitical and environmental landscape. There are complex financial structures in place that need to be carefully managed with both cash and financial reporting implications across multiple entities. The Corporate Controlling team are essential for ensuring these positions are clearly understood, optimised and carefully managed.
In this role you will:
- Work in very close cooperation with the Commercial director;
- Provide finance oversight for complex and large capex projects in development or construction phase;
- Be accountable for the development and implementation of an effective and efficient project cost management system;
- Lead the entire budgeting, forecasting & reporting process over the development & construction lifetime of different projects and monitor the actual spendings;
- Be responsible for providing project leaders with high quality cost related insights to facilitate decision making processes including variance analysis and trends;
- Provide regular and reliable assessments of the VOWD (Value of Work Done) ensuring that accruals stand up to audit;
- Provide ongoing commitment and expenditure tracking and control, ensuring compliance with project WBS and budgets;
- Monitor and control staffing requirements of the project;
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial reports and presentations towards different stakeholders (management team, board of directors, banks, shareholders, internal departments);
- Have a good understanding of the development & construction process of a large capex project (financial, technical, contractual, interfaces, risks);
- Responsible for the analytical masterdata of the project(s) reporting in SAP;
- Participate and contribute to continuously improving reporting, controlling and planning processes;
- Work with Accounting to achieve an accurate financial close each period for Corporate entities.
To be successful in the role you will bring:
- You obtained a Bachelor/Master degree in finance or related disciple;
- You have at least 7 years’ experience and 3 years’ experience in a similar role. Experience from the on- & offshore wind sector or the oil & gas sector is a plus.
- You have a good ability to understand the complex financial & technical business and its interactions;
- You have in-depth knowledge of analytical and accounting concepts, and you are familiar with SAP and reporting systems;
- You are an advanced user of MS Office and you have an interest in financial modelling;
- You are organized enough to be able to track multiple projects and perform several tasks at the same time;
- You are accurate and have strong analytical skills;
- You have strong social and communicative skills and can work both in team as autonomous.
