Lead Functional Consultant (D365 CE and Power Platform) in Birmingham

As a Dynamics 365 CE and Power Platform Functional Consultant, you will bridge the gap between IT capability and business expectations on Microsoft Dynamics projects. You will lead a team of functional consultants, collaborating with clients to design and build solutions based on Dynamics 365 CE and Power Platform, including the use of AI features, to deliver benefits for them and their customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with key stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective Dynamics 365 solutions.
• Balance the benefits and risks of customisation, recommend the best approach to support client needs, and identify opportunities to make best use of the ever‑expanding platform features.
• Support and guide the team in delivering discovery workshops, creating functional designs, configuring solutions, supporting testing, assisting with data migration needs, delivering training, and supporting implementation.
• Lead larger teams of functional consultants within sizable and complex projects, identifying priorities, assigning tasks, making effective use of resources and skill levels, and contributing to the project’s success.
• Build relationships with counterparts in other disciplines across the project, including within the client team, and manage dependencies between disciplines.
• Manage and coach staff, focusing on performance management and career development, supporting a culture of wellbeing and inclusion, and ensuring team members manage their workload and stress levels effectively.

Minimum Essential Requirements

• Expertise in Microsoft Dynamics CE and Power Platform products, including Sales, Customer Service, Customer Insights, Field Service, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Copilot Studio, and Power BI.
• Deep understanding of AI features within Microsoft Dynamics CE and Power Platform and ability to explain their benefits to business users.
• Familiarity with related Microsoft products such as Exchange, SharePoint and Teams, and ability to configure integrations.
• Experience with end‑to‑end implementations of Dynamics 365 CE or Power Platform projects, covering requirements analysis, design, configuration, testing, training, data migration, cutover, and reporting.
• Ability to influence solution design with a configuration‑first approach, using customisation only when essential.
• Demonstrated ability to showcase out‑of‑the‑box functionality to stakeholders.
• Strong workflow design and implementation skills using classic and Power Automate workflows.
• Pre‑sales support experience responding to ITTs, RFPs and RFQs, and ability to envision solutions and define resource plans.
• Proven stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including interviewing stakeholders, shadowing users, delivering discovery workshops, business process mapping and prioritising requirements.
