Main purpose of the role & responsibilities in the business:
As a Lead Platform Engineer (Consultant) you’ll lead teams to design, automate, build, manage and optimise modern digital service platforms. It’s a fast‑paced environment where you’ll make sound, reasoned decisions while learning about new technologies and approaches, supported by colleagues who help you grow. As the technical leader in the team you will also interact with customers, share knowledge and mentor those around you.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Work as part of a team – collaborate with engineering, testing, consulting, product management and security capabilities to build, test and deploy software of the highest quality; and operate and continuously improve underlying platform services.
- Use technology for positive impact – ensure the latest technologies are employed appropriately and aligned with industry best practices for maximum user and business benefit.
- Share your knowledge – broadcast your opinions internally through communities of practice and more widely in industry.

Minimum (essential) Requirements:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain technical design clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Experience leading teams and supporting a DevOps culture in complex project delivery and support.
- Role requires SC Clearance.
Significant Expertise In:
- Designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring and operating modern digital service platforms in production environments.
- Using Continuous Delivery and automation techniques for operationally ready software releases, including orchestration through multiple configuration management tools.
Demonstrable Experience In:
- Building and supporting modern digital service platforms, including architecture, design, estimation, planning and iterating MVPs using a modern agile approach.
- Championing Site Reliability Engineering tooling, techniques and processes to manage and improve platform services such as monitoring, modernisation and cost optimisation.
- Using AWS, including SaaS or PaaS offerings to solve business problems.
Desirable:
- Public cloud provider certification, e.g., AWS.
- Specialisation certification such as Kubernetes CKAD.
