This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on and commercially aware finance professional to join a dynamic organisation at an exciting stage of its development. Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial direction of the business, ensuring robust controls are in place while providing meaningful insight to support continued growth.
The Opportunity
This role offers a broad and varied remit within a close-knit business environment, where finance is a key driver of decision-making. You will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function while also contributing at a strategic level, making this an ideal position for someone who enjoys both detail and big-picture thinking.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the business, including management accounts, payroll, and transactional finance
- Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts with insightful commentary
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads
- Provide commercial analysis and financial insight to support business growth and profitability
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial planning
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including VAT returns and year-end reporting
- Act as the key point of contact for external auditors, accountants, and advisors
- Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and systems
- Support and develop junior finance team members where applicable
About You
We are seeking a motivated and adaptable finance professional who thrives in an SME environment and enjoys taking ownership. You will likely bring:
- A recognised professional accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or be qualified by experience
- Previous experience in a Finance Manager or senior finance role, ideally within an SME
- Strong technical accounting knowledge combined with a commercial mindset
- The ability to operate both strategically and hands-on
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to engage with non-financial stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with accounting software and strong Excel capability
