Our client is a fabulous Children’s Hospice that supports hundreds of families, looking after children and young people who have life‑limiting or life‑threatening conditions. Our mission is to provide the highest quality specialist nursing and holistic care services to children and their families in our local communities.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing & Communications, the Marketing Officer is responsible for the planning, delivery and performance of integrated marketing activity across the charity. The role plays a key part in driving brand awareness, audience engagement and supporting income generation through effective, insight‑led campaigns.

Working with the wider Marketing & Communications team, you will take ownership of key marketing channels, lead on campaign delivery, and use data and insight to continuously improve performance. The role requires a proactive, creative individual who can manage multiple projects, influence stakeholders and take responsibility for delivering high‑quality marketing outcomes across both digital and offline channels.

The role sits within the Income Generation Team and is line managed by the Head of Marketing and Communications, working closely with community fundraisers, corporate fundraisers, and our individual giving team. It also requires organisational marketing and communication support for all hospice teams.

Key tasks and responsibilities:
  • Work alongside the marketing and communications team to develop, create and deliver campaigns and appeals to support all fundraising targets.
  • Lead marketing activity for events and campaigns, including content capture and live social media where appropriate across events and organisational events.
  • Take ownership of event and campaign performance, making data‑driven decisions to improve results.
  • Produce marketing assets supporting organisational objectives and design support (e.g. Canva) or through relationships with external agencies (designers, printers, web developers), ensuring delivery to brief, budget and deadline.
  • Manage campaign and event timelines, ensuring activity is delivered on time and aligned across channels working collaboratively.
  • Support planning and delivery of integrated marketing campaigns and appeals that support fundraising, brand awareness and organisational objectives.
  • Support Retail and other organisational areas with marketing activity, assets and regular content ensuring alignment with brand and wider campaigns.
  • Own and manage the charity’s social media channels, including content planning, scheduling, moderating and monitoring and responsive to engagement – platforms are Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, X, TikTok and Youtube.
  • Develop and manage a structured content and communications calendar including planned organic content and awareness days across all communications.
  • Lead the creation of engaging, high‑quality content across digital and offline channels, aligned to brand guidelines and campaign objectives.
  • Support the organisation to manage and continuously improve and update website content.
  • Support on email marketing content and newsletter content – supplying copy and imagery.
  • Own the management and development of the charity’s imagery and video library, ensuring content is high‑quality, consented and on‑brand and suitable for use across all channels.
  • Maintain and evolve the charity’s brand, ensuring consistency across all communications.
  • Use analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, social and email insights) to monitor performance and drive improvements on all organic content.
General responsibilities:
  • Take ownership of workload and priorities, working independently while contributing to team objectives.
  • Contribute ideas and innovation to campaigns, content and marketing approaches.
  • Lead or contribute to marketing planning meetings where appropriate.
  • Ensure all activity aligns with organisational policies, including safeguarding, data protection and brand guidelines.
  • Take responsibility for continuous professional development.
  • Take a flexible approach to new duties and responsibilities as required to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation.
  • Attend staff meetings and training as required.
  • Ensure that your conduct within and outside the charity does not conflict with professional expectations.
Experience:
  • Essential: Experience of marketing across a number of channels (e.g. social media, paid‑for advertising, copy, design, media).
  • Knowledge of and experience in planning and project management.
  • Experience of managing social media channels.
  • Experience of using data and insight (from Google Analytics, social media and email analytics, a/b testing) to measure and improve content and campaign performance.
  • Well‑organised with a proven ability to effectively manage a variety of tasks and prioritise appropriately.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Proven verbal communication skills.
  • Good influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Experience of social platforms and an element of independent design (Canva).
  • Good team working skills with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Experience of email marketing software.
  • Demonstrable experience of creativity and innovation in marketing.
  • Experience of Website management and a content management system.
  • Excellent IT and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Flexibility in working out‑hours at events.
  • Desirable: Experience of producing/editing video content.
  • Experience of working with press and media.
  • A full clean UK driving licence.
