Jenson Fisher is delighted to be working in partnership with an established firm of Chartered Accountants in Fife, to recruit an experienced Senior Accounts Assistant to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Accounts Assistant, Senior Accounts Assistant, Accounts Senior or similar practice professional who is looking for a broader role within a supportive and close-knit accountancy firm.
The position offers excellent variety, with exposure across bookkeeping, VAT, accounts, taxation and Making Tax Digital, making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking to continue developing their technical skills and take greater ownership of their work.
The Role
Working as part of the team, you will support a varied portfolio of clients and be responsible for delivering a range of accounting and taxation services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Finalising VAT returns for a portfolio of clients.
- Reviewing bookkeeping records prior to VAT submission.
- Finalising bookkeeping for a range of clients.
- Processing and reviewing trial balances.
- Assisting with the preparation and completion of accounts.
- Preparing small limited company accounts.
- Preparing and submitting a variety of tax returns.
- Supporting clients with Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
- Reviewing client records and investigating discrepancies.
- Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries.
- Managing your workload to ensure deadlines are consistently achieved.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records.
- Supporting colleagues across the practice when required.
- Keeping up to date with relevant accounting and taxation legislation.
- Contributing ideas to improve processes and client service.
About You
We are looking for an experienced accountancy practice professional who is confident working across a variety of client accounting requirements. You may currently be working as an Accounts Assistant, Senior Accounts Assistant, Accounts Senior, Practice Accountant or similar and be looking for an opportunity to broaden your experience.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
- Experience preparing or finalising VAT returns.
- Strong bookkeeping experience.
- Experience working with trial balances.
- Experience preparing tax returns.
- Knowledge of Making Tax Digital.
- Experience working on small limited company accounts.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Good communication skills and confidence dealing with clients.
- A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team.
- A genuine desire to continue developing your accounting and taxation knowledge.
Experience with Xero, QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel would be beneficial.
