Job Overview

Jensen Hughes are seeking an experienced and motivated Fire Engineer to join our growing team in Manchester. In this role you will provide expert fire engineering consultancy services across a diverse portfolio of projects, including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, industrial, and mixed-use developments. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile projects, delivering innovative fire safety solutions while ensuring compliance with UK fire safety legislation, building regulations, and industry best practices.

We are the largest fire consultancy in Europe with offices located in Belgium, Finland, Denmark, Italy, and the UK & Ireland. As a Fire Engineer at Jensen Hughes, you will be an integral part of a dynamic technical team, working with our experienced Engineers alongside other teams including our Forensics division you will work on the industry's leading technical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver fire engineering strategies for new and existing buildings.
  • Undertake fire safety assessments and analyse building designs against regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare fire strategy reports, technical specifications, and engineering calculations.
  • Conduct evacuation modelling, smoke control analysis, and life safety assessments.
  • Provide fire safety advice to architects, developers, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
  • Review building plans and designs to ensure compliance with Building Regulations, Approved Document B, and relevant British Standards.
  • Attend project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Stay informed, and advise, in relation to industry developments, legislation changes, and emerging fire engineering technologies.

A background in fire engineering, preferably within a consultancy environment. A degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Experience preparing fire strategies and technical reports. An understanding of UK fire safety legislation and building regulations. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
