Technical
Director: Facades to join our market leading UK team.
This role provides senior technical leadership across façade and external wall projects, bridging deep technical expertise with team leadership, quality assurance, and client engagement.
You will work closely with the Director of Facades, an additional Technical Director, the Facades team, and the wider Fire Engineering leadership to support the delivery and growth of our façade consultancy services across the UK.
The Impact You’ll Make in This Role
The successful candidate will provide senior technical leadership and governance across façade and external wall engineering services.
The role is responsible for ensuring technical excellence, appropriate risk management, and defensible engineering judgement on complex and high-risk projects.
The successful candidate will act as a recognized internal technical authority, supporting project delivery teams, mentoring engineers, and representing Jensen Hughes in senior technical discussions with clients and stakeholders.
You will continue to be involved in technically complex projects while also supporting team development, workload management, and consistency of delivery across offices.
This role is ideal for a highly experienced façade consultant who enjoys remaining technically engaged while influencing standards, people, and outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Act as a senior technical authority for façade and external wall systems, including fire performance, testing, appraisal, and remediation strategies.
- Provide technical oversight, peer review, and sign-off for complex and high-risk façade deliverables.
- Ensure façade engineering advice is proportionate, risk-based, and aligned with relevant legislation, guidance, and internal governance requirements.
- Lead the technical approach on complex façade and external wall appointments.
- Represent Jensen Hughes in senior technical discussions with clients, design teams, contractors, and regulators.
- Identify, assess, and manage technical risk across façade and external wall projects.
- Support the development and application of internal technical standards, guidance notes, and quality assurance processes.
- Mentor and support engineers across the façade and external wall team, contributing to capability development and performance review.
- Support the Director – Facades in service line development, including technical input to fee strategy, workload planning, and resourcing.
- Contribute to maintaining Jensen Hughes’ reputation for high-quality, independent technical advice.

Requirements and Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent demonstrable experience).
- Chartered or working towards chartership (desirable).
- Extensive experience in façade and/or external wall engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise independent technical judgement on complex and high-risk projects.
- Strong understanding of façade systems, materials, construction techniques, and performance.
- Experience in technical governance, peer review, and quality assurance.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly to clients and stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring and supporting engineers at varying levels.
- Willingness to travel to project sites across the UK as required.
