Jensen Hughes have a rare and exciting opportunity for a talented Technical Director to join our market leading London team and help us drive excellence across our projects and deliver world class life safety solutions to our varied client base into 2026! As a Technical Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring safety and compliance within the built environment. Your expertise will contribute to innovative solutions that protect lives, property, and reputations across diverse industries. This position is integral to our Fire & Building Safety team, where you will collaborate with industry leaders to address complex safety challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of professional awareness of technical matters in the fire industry, assimilate and synthesise developing technical issues and provide updates and briefings as required.
  • Guide our fire engineering professionals, advise and deliver complex solutions to large construction engineering projects within leading consultancies.
  • Take control of current and future projects and ensure that financial targets are met and exceeded; develop existing relationships with key clients and deliver fire safety engineering solutions.
  • Drive the delivery of technical excellence, team engagement, and the development of key clients in this discipline.
  • Be the expert to our clients and the primary point of contact.
  • Lead discussions with design teams, building control and fire services.
  • Attend industry conferences to network and embrace industry trends and best practices.
  • Supervise and train graduate engineers.

Qualifications

  • A background in fire engineering, preferably within a consultancy environment.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher within Fire Engineering or similar, such as Mechanical Engineering.
  • Ideally a Chartered Engineer or working towards.
  • The ability to undertake works independently, demonstrating initiative and management skills.
  • The ability and desire to mentor and manage our junior professionals.
