Are you an experienced Investment Manager with a strong technical background and a passion for supporting SME growth? Our client is looking for someone who can make a real impact by helping ambitious businesses access the funding they need to thrive. This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and respected investment team managing a fund that offers debt investments to growing SMEs. The role focuses on providing flexible funding for a range of needs including working capital, capital expenditure, property expansion, and business development.

You’ll be part of a supportive team working on a sector-agnostic fund aimed at driving regional growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain a broad network of introducers to support deal flow.
  • Proactively develop new opportunities and promote the fund to target audiences.
  • Keep up to date with regional business trends and opportunities.
  • Identify and assess new SME loan investment opportunities to meet individual and team targets.
  • Conduct due diligence with input from all relevant stakeholders.
  • Structure and negotiate deals tailored to each business’s needs.
  • Manage the full transaction process, including legal, financial, and operational due diligence.
  • Provide post-investment support, including ongoing performance monitoring and strategic guidance.
  • Collaborate with portfolio and wider investment teams for complex transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, service levels, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare reports and present recommendations to the Investment Committee.
  • Support the Fund Principal in all aspects of fund delivery and promotion.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven experience in investment management with strong analytical and credit risk skills.
  • Commercially savvy, with the ability to assess and support a diverse range of SMEs.
  • Ideally, an existing network in the Midlands region.
  • Comfortable working at Executive level with potential and current investee companies.
  • A team player with great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK to meet clients and visit other offices.
  • Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
