The Role & Candidate - Newcastle upon Tyne
With a Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture, you will have a professional, personable approach with a passion for working in the high-end sector and delivering luxury design. A creative designer & project manager with 8+ years’ experience gained in the UK working with or within an interior design or architecture studio. Highly proficient in AutoCAD with a passion for design and interior architecture.
You will take responsibility for projects technically and creatively with input and direction from Bernard Interiors Associates or Directors. You must be confident collaborating with both internal and external design teams whilst working on multiple projects simultaneously. Managing projects through all the RIBA stages, you will excel in project management and be proficient in producing detailed design drawings and building details.
You will be able to work to tight timescales and budgets with minimal supervision, working quickly and efficiently to produce accurate and precise technical drawings and schedules for tender stage and construction. Having been involved in all aspects of residential and commercial design, you will have worked collaboratively with design teams and project leaders and will have the ability to lead and drive the design team to hit tight deadlines carrying a project from concept to completion on site.
You will be self-disciplined and organised and the main point of contact, liaising with external parties and architectural teams, often in a client-facing role. Traveling to site to manage design team meetings, you will be responsible for delivering projects on time, to brief, to programme and on budget. With a strong commercial awareness, you will be proactive in looking for new project leads with the Director team and will assist Directors with resource and workload planning.
Skills Required- Strong on-site management skills, working with contractors, project managers, clients and consultants.
- Provide strong project leadership and seamless service to our clients, with exceptional communication & presentation skills throughout.
- Confident in the production of drawings for manufacture, tender packages including CAD drawings, schedules and detailed joinery.
- Be confident in submitting planning & building regulation applications with a full understanding of the UK building regulations.
- Deliver confident, experienced and skilled space planning, applying knowledge of the planning process and building regulations where applicable.
- Impeccable and concise communication and presentation skills, verbal and written. They must be fluent in spoken and written English.
- Strong mentoring skills to provide help and guidance to junior members of the team through the building process.
- Proficient use of AutoCAD and proven experience in producing design documentation and technical drawings, including the production of tender pack & detailed joinery drawings.
- Experience using Sketch Up, Adobe, In-Design, Photoshop, Word and Excel.
- Production of concept presentations, sample boards, mood boards, rendered elevations and co-ordination of 3D visualisations.
