An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well-established and fast-growing accountancy practice as a Semi Senior Accountant / Bookkeeper. This role offers a dynamic, supportive environment with excellent career progression and full study support for the right candidate.

We are seeking candidates with some ACCA exemptions via AAT or a relevant accountancy degree, who have at least 6–12 months of relevant experience in bookkeeping or accounts preparation for limited company clients, either in practice or a commercial setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of statutory year-end accounts for limited companies
  • Submission of VAT returns in line with HMRC regulations
  • Double-entry bookkeeping and maintaining client ledgers
  • Processing payroll and managing related submissions
  • Assisting with corporation tax computations
  • Supporting the delivery of management accounts
  • Acting as a client contact, managing queries, and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Liaising with HMRC and other external bodies as required

Requirements:

  • ACCA part-qualified, AAT qualified, or holding ACCA exemptions from a degree or AAT
  • 6–12 months of relevant experience (bookkeeping/accounts preparation), ideally within a similar role in practice
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, and year-end processes
  • Experience preparing corporation tax calculations
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or similar
