Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will own the month-end close and reporting for two key central entities (Jellyfish Group Ltd and Jellyfish Digital Group Ltd), with a particular focus on review, validation and issue resolution across the P&L, balance sheet, working capital and intercompany positions. You will work closely with six Regional Controllers and the wider Group Finance team to ensure accurate, timely and well-supported group reporting across a complex, multi-entity environment.
This role is best suited to someone who has experience not only preparing financial information, but critically reviewing it, challenging unusual movements, strengthening close discipline, and coordinating inputs across multiple stakeholders.
Please note that this is a full-time position initially offered on a one-year fixed-term contract basis. However, Jellyfish is committed to fostering professional growth, with potential career paths leading to broader Group Financial Controller responsibilities, senior finance leadership roles, or specialist positions within finance transformation.
Your primary responsibilities will be:
- Take ownership of the month-end close for two central entities, with responsibility for reviewing and validating the P&L, balance sheet, working capital and intercompany positions before sign-off.
- Investigate and explain unusual movements, reconciliations, variances and exceptions, identifying root causes and ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Prepare and coordinate close deliverables across the reporting cycle, including close trackers, reporting timetables, reconciliations, flux analysis, balance sheet reviews, revenue and payroll checks, and post-close reporting packs.
- Work closely with Regional Financial Controllers and the Group Financial Controller to coordinate group reporting inputs, maintain close discipline, and ensure consistency across entities and regions.
- Review the work of an Accountant, providing direction, quality control, coaching and support.
- Be the administrator for FloQast, overseeing user access, system configuration, and the effective operation of reconciliation and close management modules.
- Support finance transformation initiatives and continuous improvements to deliver process standardisation and simplification.
Qualifications:
- Qualified or part-qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CA or CIMA).
- Experience owning or reviewing month-end close for legal entities within a multi-entity business.
- Experience reviewing and challenging P&L, balance sheet and working capital movements, with the ability to investigate variances and reconcile issues to root cause.
- Experience with intercompany reconciliations in a group structure, including resolving mismatches across entities or stakeholders.
- Ability to explain financial issues clearly and concisely to both finance and non-finance stakeholders across all levels of the organisation in a multinational, matrix-structured organisation.
- Familiarity with finance systems, ideally FloQast, Sage or NetSuite.
- Interest in leading and developing an accounting professional, including setting clear objectives, providing direction and support, and monitoring their progress.
- Strong planning and organisational skills to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- When faced with a problem, you're good at adapting strategies and plans, and evaluate different options to find practical solutions.
- Commitment to ethical behaviour, with adherence to company policies and relevant financial regulations.
