The Financial Accountant will report directly to the Finance Manager and play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This role will contribute to processes across both wholesale and e-commerce business models and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support the company’s financial objectives. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with best practice, company policy and UK GAAP, will support systems change and will promote improved ways of working.
You\’ll be;
- Facilitating the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Maintaining the general ledger in good order, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Monitoring daily cash flow and managing relationships with banking partners to support operational needs.
- Performing account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies, ensuring timely resolution and integrity of financial data.
- Designing and implementing robust internal controls and procedures for financial processes.
- Driving process improvements by streamlining and automating workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Supporting the successful go-live of the company’s new ERP system, ensuring integration with financial reporting and operational workflows.
- Contributing to the preparation of monthly and year-end financial reporting.
- Providing analysis and support to the Finance Manager and Financial Controller.
- Supporting the Finance Manager in liaising with external auditors to prepare analysis and information for the statutory audit.
- Supporting with the preparation and review of VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitoring tax compliance across the finance team, identifying, escalating and addressing any risks or gaps.
- Providing ad hoc analysis and support to the Finance Manager and Global Tax team.
- Working closely with colleagues in Financial Planning and Analysis to deliver good commentary on performance vs plan.
- Building effective relationships with production, operations, logistics, and merchandising teams to ensure timely and reliable reporting of inventory and COGS.
You\’ll have;
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) essential.
- A demonstrated experience, preferably within a wholesale, e-commerce, or related industry.
- An ability to critically assess existing processes, recommend improvements and implement changes effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build effective relationships across teams and support operational needs.
- A proficiency in managing and analysing large datasets, with good Excel skills.
- An agile approach. Willingness to embrace change and work flexibly, adapting to evolving requirements of the job role.
