A well-established multi-site food manufacturer is looking to appoint an Engineering Planner to join the engineering team to manage the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities, improve reliability and minimise site downtime.

The Role

  • Scheduling & Strategy: Build and fine-tune weekly maintenance schedules for all production, facility, and water treatment systems to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Facilities & Compliance: Coordinate statutory inspections and upkeep for critical site services, including refrigeration, compressed air, HVAC, electrical systems, and fire safety.
  • Systems Ownership: Act as the site expert for the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring data accuracy and using system insights to spot areas for continuous improvement.
  • Contractor Management: Oversee third-party service providers, ensuring all risk assessments, method statements, and site safety permits are strictly verified before work kicks off.
  • Efficiency & Root Cause: Monitor resource allocation across materials and labour, investigating any schedule deviations to prevent repeat issues.
  • Onsite Inductions: Deliver safety briefings and competency checks for incoming engineering contractors to maintain strict factory standards.

About You

  • Fast-Paced Engineering: Proven experience in maintenance planning, facilities or engineering co-ordination within manufacturing or process industries.
  • Systems Expert: Strong proficiency with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) alongside good technical understanding of maintenance and facilities systems.
  • Organised: Exceptional organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • People Skills: Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to provide CMMS training to colleagues and develop technical competency across the department.
