AI Application Engineer - London (Hybrid) - Python/ JavaScript - Power Platform & Automation - Up to £50,000

We're working with a growing technology-driven consultancy that is embracing AI, automation and low-code development across the organisation. As investment in internally built applications continues to increase, they're looking for an AI Application Engineer to help shape how those solutions are designed, delivered and supported.

We're looking for someone who enjoys building solutions, improving processes and working directly with stakeholders to solve business problems. You'll be the person who helps teams turn ideas into working solutions while ensuring applications remain secure, supportable and fit for long-term use.

Success in this role will come from being proactive, pragmatic and comfortable taking ownership. You'll work directly with users, help shape best practice and remain hands-on as AI, automation and internal applications continue to grow across the business.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building and enhancing internal applications, automations and AI-driven solutions.
  • Helping business teams transition internally developed applications into supported, secure and maintainable solutions.
  • Taking ownership of a growing portfolio of business-critical applications, ensuring they remain reliable, well documented and fit for purpose.
  • You'll remain hands‑on and technical, with the opportunity to continue building solutions while influencing how applications are adopted and governed across the organisation.
  • Working directly with stakeholders to understand challenges and turn ideas into practical solutions.
  • Supporting and improving Power Apps, workflows and business‑critical tooling.
  • Investigating issues across applications, integrations and automations.
  • Helping shape best practices around application ownership, governance and supportability.
  • Exploring emerging technologies and identifying opportunities to leverage AI and automation.
  • Creating reusable templates and frameworks that help teams build solutions more effectively.
  • Acting as the bridge between technical and non‑technical teams.

What We're Looking For

  • We're particularly interested in people who have taken ownership of a solution from idea through to delivery, working directly with stakeholders rather than simply building against a specification.
  • Experience building applications, automations or internal business tooling.
  • Exposure to Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 technologies.
  • Python and/or JavaScript skills.
  • Experience working with APIs, integrations or automation tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Confidence working directly with stakeholders and end users.
  • A pragmatic approach with a genuine interest in helping people solve problems through technology.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting citizen developers or low‑code environments.
  • Exposure to AI tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude or similar technologies.
  • PowerShell scripting experience.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, Entra ID or Dataverse.

What's In It For You?

  • Up to £50,000 salary plus bonus.
  • Flexible hybrid working with only two days per week in the London office.
  • Work at the forefront of AI adoption, automation and low‑code development, with the freedom to experiment with new technologies and influence how they're used across the business.
  • Clear progression opportunities as the business continues to grow.
  • Private healthcare and wellbeing benefits.
  • Enhanced family leave policies.
  • A collaborative culture focused on learning, innovation and career development.
  • The chance to genuinely influence how technology is adopted across the organisation.

Why This Role?

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of technology and people interaction. If you've built applications, automated processes or worked closely with stakeholders to improve the way businesses operate, this role offers the opportunity to take that experience to the next level within a company that actively encourages innovation and continuous learning.

How to prepare for a job interview at Jefferson Frank

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Jefferson Frank uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
