Jefferies is seeking a mid-level solicitor with broad fixed income experience, gained either in-house or in private practice. Candidates may be US, UK, or Commonwealth qualified. The role is based in London and reports to the Head of Sales & Trading Legal, EMEA and Asia. The successful candidate will support Jefferies’ Fixed Income businesses, including DCM, Private Placements, Loan and Claims Trading, EM, CLOs, and ABS desks, focusing on bespoke, structured, or cross-border transactions. Support is also provided to Risk, Operations, Compliance, and Treasury as needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and negotiating engagement letters, term sheets, issuance documents, placement agreements, subscription agreements, credit and security agreements, trade confirmations, transfer agreements, fee letters, confidence and non-reliance letters.

The role involves working independently or with senior team members, depending on the matter.

Person Specification

Relevant experience in the UK practice of a leading international law firm or financial institution is advantageous. The candidate need not have experience in all listed areas but should be a lateral thinker, enthusiastic, eager to learn, and adaptable. The legal team operates on the trading floor in a fast-paced environment, requiring confidence and technical knowledge to respond quickly.
