Role Overview
The UK Investment Banking team is seeking an Associate or Vice President to join our London office. This individual will play an integral role in the execution of M&A, capital markets, and strategic advisory assignments for UK and international clients. The successful candidate will work closely with senior bankers, clients, and internal partners, contributing to all aspects of transaction execution and origination across a broad mix of sectors within the UK market.
Key Responsibilities
- Transaction Execution
- Lead and support the execution of M&A, ECM, DCM, and strategic advisory mandates.
- Manage day-to-day deal processes, including preparing key client materials, coordinating due diligence, and overseeing workstreams.
- Build, review, and refine detailed financial models and valuation analyses.
- Client Engagement & Relationship Building
- Work directly with senior bankers to prepare and deliver pitches, strategic updates, and market materials.
- Contribute to strengthening existing client relationships and identifying new business opportunities.
- Market & Sector Insight
- Conduct market research, peer benchmarking, and sector analysis to support client dialogues and origination efforts.
- Stay current on UK market trends, regulatory developments, and relevant sector themes.
- Leadership & Team Contribution
- Mentor and oversee Analysts and interns, providing guidance and high-quality oversight.
- Collaborate across product and sector teams within Jefferies’ global platform.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Associate Level
- Minimum 3 years of investment banking experience, ideally within M&A or sector-focused teams.
- Strong financial modelling skills and a solid understanding of transaction processes.
Vice President Level
- 5–7 years of relevant experience, with proven “VP-ready” or established VP capability.
- Demonstrable track record of leading transaction workstreams and working directly with clients.
General Requirements (Both Levels)
- Excellent technical and analytical skills, with proficiency across valuation methodologies.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to interact with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented mindset, high attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
- UK market experience is preferred; however, strong candidates from other geographies will be considered.
