The Stock Lending Settlements (Assistant Vice President) will be based in Glasgow and will provide day‑to‑day supervisory oversight of a team of approximately 3 or 4, supporting international stock loan settlement activity across multiple markets. The role will focus on ensuring effective operational delivery across the full stock lending trade lifecycle, supporting the Securities Finance trading desk, and maintaining strong controls, service quality, and escalation discipline. The successful candidate must have proven stock loan supervisory experience, a strong understanding of the full securities finance lifecycle, and experience working closely with trading, settlements, middle office, external counterparties, agent lenders, and financing providers. This role will also contribute to operational resilience, process improvement, and the development of team capability within the Glasgow function, consistent with the broader objective of building a collaborative, cross‑trained operational team.

Accountabilities

  • Supervise and develop a small Glasgow‑based Stock Lending Settlements team
  • Ensure daily stock loan settlement activity is completed accurately, efficiently, and within agreed service standards
  • Maintain strong oversight of international market settlement risk, exceptions, and operational controls
  • Support the Securities Finance trading desk with timely issue resolution and high‑quality operational service
  • Ensure appropriate escalation of settlement issues, aged fails, market constraints, and counterparty‑related risks
  • Contribute to management reporting, root cause analysis, and operational improvement initiatives
  • Support the development of a scalable Glasgow stock lending operations function

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising daily Stock Lending settlement activity across international markets
  • Supporting trade lifecycle management for Stock Borrow & Lending transactions
  • Monitoring unmatched trades, settlement fails, cancellations, aged breaks, and reconciliation items
  • Ensuring timely settlement, escalation, and resolution of exceptions
  • Working with the Securities Finance trading desk to support trading activity and manage operational risk
  • Using relevant securities finance platforms including Global One, EquiLend and Pirum for contract comparison, matching and exception management
  • Supporting financing and collateral‑related processes involving providers
  • Producing and reviewing MI relating to settlement performance, unmatched trades, fails, cancellations and root cause analysis, consistent with the MI expectations in the existing outsourced services framework
  • Supporting T+1 readiness, process redesign and control enhancements where relevant
  • Developing team members through coaching, feedback, cross‑training and day‑to‑day management
  • Partnering with global stakeholders to align operational delivery with strategic goals and regulatory expectations

Requirements

  • Proven Stock Loan / Securities Lending supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of the full Stock Borrow & Lending trade lifecycle, including trade capture, matching, settlement, recalls, returns, fails management, reconciliations and exception resolution
  • Experience supporting a Securities Finance trading desk in a fast‑paced markets environment
  • Experience managing or supervising a small operations team, including performance oversight, escalation management and people development
  • Strong knowledge of international settlement processes and market practices
  • Hands‑on experience with Global One; familiarity with international settlement platforms and tools is relevant to the broader operating model
  • Experience using EquiLend and/or Pirum for contract comparison, matching or post‑trade exception management
  • Familiarity with financing or tri‑party collateral processes
  • Strong understanding of settlement risk failed trade management, unmatched trade resolution and reconciliation controls
  • Ability to produce, review and interpret MI, including fail metrics, unmatched trade metrics, cancellation volumes and root cause analysis
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with trading, operations, counterparties, custodians, agent lenders, vendors and global teams
  • Strong analytical mindset, with a track record of driving operational improvements and control enhancements
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and escalate issues appropriately
  • Strong control mindset, attention to detail and ownership
  • Experience supporting process migration, knowledge transfer or team build‑out activity would be beneficial, particularly given the broader migration of roles from India to Glasgow
