Jefferies is seeking a technically strong, hands‑on Vice President to join its global Data Science team in London. This role will focus on building real‑world data science and AI products that support investment banking and markets workflows, including predictive models and modern AI systems powered by large language models.

This is not a generic data science role. The successful candidate will be expected to independently lead projects from problem definition through to production delivery, partnering closely with business stakeholders, data scientists, engineers, and other technology teams. The role requires a combination of deep technical capability, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to deliver scalable, production‑grade solutions. The candidate will work across predictive analytics, machine learning, and LLM‑based agentic AI, including bespoke agents and multi‑step workflows designed to address high‑impact finance use cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and deliver solutions across predictive analytics, machine learning, and LLM‑based agentic AI.
  • Design, develop, and implement bespoke AI agents and multi‑step workflows using modern agent frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or similar technologies.
  • Develop robust, scalable, and production‑grade Python code, contributing directly to production systems.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders across investment banking, markets, and technology to translate business needs into clear technical requirements and measurable outcomes.
  • Own delivery end-to-end, including problem framing, data discovery, model development, evaluation, integration, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
  • Collaborate with a global team of data scientists and engineers to deliver high‑quality, reliable solutions.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to raising standards for technical execution, code quality, and delivery discipline.
  • Stay current with developments in machine learning, generative AI, LLMs, and agentic workflows, and identify practical opportunities to apply these technologies within financial services.
Required Experience and Skills
  • 6–10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or a related technical field.
  • Expert‑level Python programming skills, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and production‑grade code.
  • Proven track record of independently delivering end‑to‑end data science or machine learning projects.
  • Strong experience with predictive modeling, including model design, training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Hands‑on experience working with LLMs and building AI applications beyond simple chatbot interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of modern machine learning workflows, software engineering practices, and production deployment considerations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Creative, curious, and commercially minded, with a passion for solving complex problems and building practical, high‑impact solutions.
Preferred Experience and Skills
  • Direct experience building bespoke AI agents and agentic workflows in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with AWS and modern cloud‑native deployment and scaling patterns.
  • Experience in financial services, particularly within investment banking, markets, private equity, or a related environment.
  • Understanding of front‑office finance workflows and the role of data, analytics, and AI in supporting business decision‑making.
  • Experience with modern AI frameworks and orchestration tools, including LangChain, LangGraph, or comparable technologies.

The Global Data Science team at Jefferies is focused on building next‑generation AI and analytics capabilities that combine trusted data, predictive models, and LLM‑based agents to deliver practical outcomes for high‑impact financial workflows. The team partners closely with business and technology stakeholders to develop solutions that improve productivity, enhance decision‑making, and support strategic initiatives across investment banking and markets.

This is an opportunity to help shape and deliver advanced AI capabilities within a leading global investment bank.
