International experience is required as responsibilities will include managing (directly and with support of external counsel) legal and HR issues arising in EMEA and APAC jurisdictions in which the business operates. As well as being a subject matter expert, the candidate should have the confidence and initiative to support senior management, including Regional and Global Heads of corporate and business lines.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and growing business and the ideal candidate will have hands-on experience advising on all aspects of the employment lifecycle in a regulated organisation in EMEA and Asia, in particular:

  • Advising on day-to-day employment issues such as remuneration (including regulatory remuneration) and benefits structures and entitlements, business protection, dispute resolution, disciplinary processes, performance management, grievance processes and preventative management;
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating employment documents, policies and procedures;
  • Managing employment litigation claims and pre-action matters;
  • Advising on hires and exits;
  • Assisting on employee-related privacy and personal data matters
  • Developing and sharing know-how; and
  • Providing training to control functions and managers on employment law and HR issues.

In addition, the candidate should:

  • have experience in advising on the application of regulatory remuneration regimes (MIFIDPRU or equivalent) in the UK and/or Germany
  • be confident in providing immediate support and advice to the business;
  • be commercially savvy with the ability to distil and explain legal issues quickly and succinctly;
  • have a working knowledge of employment law, human resources and regulatory landscapes in EMEA and APAC jurisdictions;
  • be experienced in working with external counsel to provide advice on EMEA and/or APAC matters
  • be efficient at managing and prioritising a varied workload for a number of different stakeholders;
  • have a highly collaborative outlook, working in partnership with other control functions and business units; and
  • have experience of dealing with senior business managers and presenting at board committees.

This is a diverse role for a confident, self-motivated and outgoing candidate with excellent communication skills, the ability to hit the ground running and provide significant added value to the business.
