Our Financial Institutions Group (FIG) is a market-leading platform advising banks, insurers, asset managers, fintech firms, specialty finance companies, and other financial services providers. We are seeking a highly motivated Associate to join FIG. The Associate will be an integral member of the team, supporting the origination and execution of a broad range of strategic advisory and capital-raising transactions. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transaction Execution: Lead and manage various aspects of live M&A, equity, and debt transactions, including financial modeling, valuation, due diligence coordination, and preparation of client deliverables.
  • Client Interaction: Work closely with senior bankers to support relationships with key financial institution clients; participate in client meetings and contribute to strategic dialogue.
  • Industry & Company Research: Conduct in-depth industry analysis for financial institutions subsectors (e.g., banks, insurance, asset management, fintech) and maintain sector-specific knowledge to support deal origination.
  • Valuation & Modeling: Build, review, and refine complex financial models (DCF, LBO, merger, trading comps, precedent transactions) tailored to FIG-specific metrics (e.g., embedded value, insurance reserves, regulatory capital ratios).
  • Marketing Materials: Prepare pitch books, investor presentations, and marketing documents in collaboration with analysts and senior team members.
  • Mentorship: Provide oversight, guidance, and training to junior team members; review analytical work products to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Understand and factor in sector-specific regulatory and accounting considerations affecting deal structures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a top-tier institution; strong academic performance in finance, accounting, economics, or related field; MBA or other advanced degrees a plus.
  • 3–5 years of investment banking experience within FIG.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with advanced financial modeling skills.
  • Deep understanding of FIG industry dynamics, sector drivers, and relevant accounting/regulatory frameworks (Basel III, Solvency II, IFRS/GAAP for insurers, etc.).
  • Prior experience working on regulatory capital advisory, financial institution M&A, or capital markets transactions.
