What you can expect

The Jefferies Private Fund Advisory (PFA) team is focused on raising capital and providing strategic advice to private markets firms. Analysts play a critical role within the PFA team, contributing to all aspects of the business. You would work closely with a global client base of leading private equity managers and institutional investors (pensions, insurance firms, banks, government and sovereign wealth funds, family offices, asset managers etc.). Our team comprises 44 people across 12 offices globally and sits within the investment bank as one of the firm’s core offerings to private markets clients. Our culture is a key priority and centres around teamwork, collaboration, and treating each other with respect.

The role offers an opportunity to work on a broad range of private markets strategies including private equity, credit, and infrastructure (across funds, co-investments, and direct deals and sectors including healthcare, renewable energy, industrials, consumer, technology, life insurance etc.). You would also develop a diverse range of skillsets including:

  • Client interaction – speaking regularly with leading fund managers
  • Qualitative writing – across due diligence reports and investment memorandums
  • Financial analysis – performing quantitative analysis of fund cashflows and valuations
  • Organisation – coordinating capital-raising projects, managing data rooms, tracking investor outreach, etc.
  • Presentation – preparing pitch materials and investor presentations
  • Market research – conducting industry research to identify trends, benchmark funds, and assess competitive landscapes

What we look for in a candidate

We look for candidates who are eager to make an impact by doing real, hands-on work and participating on active deal teams. Successful Jefferies Summer Interns are able to multitask and handle a variety of projects simultaneously. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism and client management skills together with strong technical, written and verbal communication skills. The work is fast paced, challenging and intellectually stimulating. The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, be adaptable and work both independently and as part of a team are essential traits of a successful candidate.

You should have a strong academic background and be in your penultimate year of study, with an anticipated graduation date of Spring/Summer 2028. Although a background in accounting or finance can be helpful, we hire Summer Interns who have studied a variety of degree disciplines.
