We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our global systems engineering team. This role owns the design, engineering, and day-to-day operations of enterprise virtualization, storage, and backup platforms across a hybrid multi-cloud environment spanning data center sites across three regions. You will build and maintain highly available, scalable, and automated infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code practices. This is a hands-on engineering role that requires deep technical expertise across VMware, enterprise storage (NetApp, Pure, Nimble, FC SAN), and data protection (Commvault, Cohesity), combined with strong automation skills (Terraform, Ansible, Python, PowerCLI). You will work across global teams to deliver secure, resilient, and performant platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Virtualization: Design, engineer, and operate the global VMware virtualization platform (vCenter, vSphere/ESXi 6.x–8.x, NSX-T, vRNI, Log Insight). Manage VMware HA, DRS, vMotion, storage vMotion, and ESXi multipathing across production environments. Define and implement virtualization strategies across on-premises, hybrid, and public cloud platforms (VMC on AWS/Azure/GCP, HCX). Perform capacity planning, patching, upgrades, security hardening, and performance troubleshooting.
- Storage: Manage and optimize enterprise storage platforms: NetApp (file/NAS), Pure Storage (block/flash), HPE Nimble/Alletra, and Fibre Channel SAN infrastructure. Perform storage provisioning, performance tuning, capacity management, and lifecycle maintenance. Troubleshoot memory, datastore, and storage performance issues across the virtualization estate.
- Backup & Data Protection: Own and operate enterprise backup and data protection platforms (Commvault, Cohesity). Design and maintain DR replication strategies using VMware SRM, Zerto, or equivalent technologies. Ensure backup SLAs are met, conduct recovery testing, and maintain DR runbooks.
- Automation & Infrastructure-as-Code: Build and maintain automation and orchestration frameworks using Terraform, Ansible, Python, PowerCLI, and PowerShell. Develop infrastructure-as-code pipelines for provisioning, configuration management, and platform operations. Automate routine operational tasks to drive efficiency, reduce toil, and improve consistency.
- Cross-Functional: Partner with global operations teams (Network, Cloud, Desktop, Data Center) to ensure platform stability and reliability. Maintain documentation, SOPs, engineering designs, and runbooks. Participate in weekly on-call rotation supporting a 24x7 global environment.
Skills and Experience
- VMware certification (VCP/VCAP).
- 5–8 years hands-on experience with vCenter and vSphere/ESXi 6.x–8.x.
- Deep understanding of VMware core technologies and enterprise virtualization (HA, DRS, vMotion, ESXi multipathing).
- 5+ years managing enterprise storage platforms (NetApp, Pure Storage, Nimble/HPE Alletra, or Fibre Channel SAN).
- 3+ years operating enterprise backup and data protection tools (Commvault, Cohesity, or equivalent).
- 5+ years automation and infrastructure-as-code experience: Terraform for infrastructure provisioning; Ansible for configuration management and orchestration; Python, PowerCLI, and PowerShell for scripting and tooling.
- 5+ years supporting large, globally distributed systems.
- 5+ years supporting VMware SRM or equivalent DR replication technology.
- Knowledge of NSX-T, vRNI, Log Insight. Experience with VMC on AWS/Azure/GCP and HCX.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP and DNS.
- Experience working in financial services or a regulated environment.
Desirable Skills
- Nutanix AHV/AOS or similar second virtualization platform.
- Strong knowledge of server hardware (Cisco UCS, HPE Synergy).
- Software-defined compute experience.
- Experience with vRealize Operations Manager.
- Working knowledge of AWS/Azure cloud-native services.
- Experience deploying vVols.
- VDI technologies (preferably Citrix).
- Linux/Windows OS, Kubernetes, DevOps practices.
What We Expect
- Own your domain end-to-end and surface issues proactively. We don’t chase.
- Communicate effective decisions aligned with business goals and operational priorities.
