JLUK are a Technical Consultancy specialising in the provision of Pavement Engineering, Product Development and Asset Management services. From initial pavement evaluation and site investigation to the development of a bespoke pavement design, or independent technical advice on pavement and material specifications, we can assist.
We are experienced in all categories of structures including carriageways, footways, industrial pavements, airfields and ports across the UK. We are currently recruiting for a Principal Design Engineer (Pavements) to join our team based out of our offices in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. Reporting to the Business Unit Manager, the Principal Design Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of Pavement Engineers working across multiple projects at any one time.
Duties
- Manage the day-to-day coordination and review of design documentation for projects, manage design workflow including compiling relevant reports.
- Responsible for the development and preparation of optimised bespoke pavement designs and specifications.
- Plan internal and external resources to achieve required programme and budget.
- Develop and build long term relationships with a diverse client base.
- Prepare technical and commercial documents, control and report progress of work.
- Ensure designs and reports are appropriate and meet the expected levels of technical excellence.
- Assist in the provision of pavement advice for other disciplines and design and construction activities.
- Seek innovation in the delivery of schemes and techniques used to design and construct.
- Represent the company on organisational bodies, to further support the company’s position within the market.
- Support business development activities, to support the Group’s strategy.
Person Specification
- Sound knowledge and understanding of pavement design principles and pavement materials.
- Knowledge and understanding of Pavement Life Cycle Cost analysis and pavement management systems.
- Ability to fully understand, explain, present and solve complex technical problems for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Degree or equivalent in a civil engineering related subject is advantageous but not essential.
- Full UK driving license.
