Role Overview

The IT Stock and Till Build Coordinator is responsible for the end-to-end coordination of IT hardware builds, including till systems and stock management devices, in support of JD Sports store openings, refits, and ongoing operational requirements. This role acts as the central point for receiving, building, configuring, and dispatching IT equipment to retail sites across the estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hardware Build & Configuration
    • Receive, inventory, and process incoming IT hardware including till systems, handheld stock devices, printers, and peripherals.
    • Carry out imaging, configuration, and testing of devices in line with JD Sports IT standards and build documentation.
    • Maintain accurate build records and asset registers throughout the hardware lifecycle.
    • Ensure all equipment is fully tested and deployment-ready before dispatch.
  • Core Operational Tasks
    • Manage the decommissioning of hardware pallets associated with store closures, ensuring all equipment is correctly processed, catalogued, and either returned to stock, recycled, or disposed of in line with policy.
    • Build and prepare hardware pallets for new store openings and refit projects, ensuring all equipment is correctly imaged, labelled, and packed to project specification and timelines.
    • Pick up and action Business-As-Usual IT support requests related to hardware builds and stock, ensuring timely resolution and accurate ticket updates in the IT ticker system.
    • Coordinate the preparation of end-of-life hardware for recycling, including pallet consolidation, data sanitisation checks, and handover to approved recycling partners.
    • Conduct weekly stock counts of IT assets held for the Support function, reconciling physical counts against the asset management system and reporting discrepancies.
    • Conduct weekly stock counts of IT assets held for the Operations function, maintaining accurate records and flagging stock anomalies or shortfalls to the relevant team leads.
  • Stock & Inventory Management
    • Manage warehouse stock levels of IT hardware and consumables, raising purchase requests when stock reaches minimum thresholds.
    • Coordinate with procurement and vendors to track inbound hardware deliveries.
    • Maintain a clean, organised, and auditable IT stock environment within the Kingsway Warehouse.
    • Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile physical stock against ITSM/asset management systems.
  • Deployment Coordination
    • Liaise with the Retail Operations and Store Development teams to schedule and plan hardware deployments for new store openings, refits, and replacements.
    • Coordinate logistics of equipment dispatch including packaging, labelling, and shipping documentation.
    • Provide build timelines and status updates to stakeholders, escalating risks to delivery schedules as appropriate.
  • Support & Documentation
    • Produce and maintain build guides, configuration checklists, and standard operating procedures.
    • Support the wider Tech Operations team with hardware troubleshooting and returns management (RMA process).
    • Log and track all hardware movements and build activity in the relevant ITSM tooling.
    • Identify opportunities to improve build processes, reduce lead times, and increase efficiency within the warehouse operation.
    • Contribute to projects related to hardware standardisation and lifecycle management.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in an IT hardware build, deployment, or warehouse coordination role.
  • Hands-on knowledge of configuring Windows-based devices and common retail peripherals (receipt printers, barcode scanners, card payment terminals).
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent builds and deadlines.

  • Experience with imaging tools (e.g. SCCM).
  • Self-motivated and proactive — able to manage workload independently in a busy warehouse environment.
  • Team player who supports colleagues across Tech Operations and Support.
  • Adaptable to shifting priorities, particularly around store opening timelines.
