About the Role
JDS Group Limited is seeking an organised and motivated Retail Manager to manage our SPAR convenience store in Maltby. You will oversee daily operations, lead the store team and deliver excellent customer service while maintaining stock availability, store standards and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily store operations, ensuring an efficient and welcoming shopping experience.
- Lead, supervise and support staff, allocating duties and monitoring performance.
- Prepare staff rotas to maintain suitable cover during trading hours.
- Monitor sales, costs and key performance indicators, identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
- Manage stock ordering, deliveries, replenishment and stocktaking.
- Monitor product dates and stock rotation, reducing waste and stock losses.
- Maintain pricing accuracy, promotional displays and merchandising standards.
- Oversee tills, cash handling, banking and daily reconciliation.
- Resolve customer enquiries and complaints professionally.
- Recruit, induct and train staff in store procedures and customer service.
- Maintain health and safety, food hygiene and age-restricted sales procedures.
- Keep accurate operational records and report store performance to the directors.
- Coordinate with suppliers and arrange maintenance where required.
Skills
- Strong leadership, team management and communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Good organisation, time management and attention to detail.
- Commercial awareness and confidence working with sales and stock figures.
- Ability to use EPoS systems and standard computer applications.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and make decisions in a busy retail environment.
Qualifications
- A qualification in retail, business or management is desirable.
- Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Relevant food safety or health and safety training is advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in retail management, assistant management or a supervisory position.
- Experience supervising staff and coordinating daily store operations.
- Experience managing stock, cash handling and merchandising.
- Convenience store or grocery retail experience is desirable.
- Annual salary of £31,500–£33,500, depending on experience.

Working Pattern
The role requires flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, according to the store rota.
Up to £12.71 per hour (depending on age)
