Location: St Helen's
Salary: £13.30 per hour + £30 weekly attendance allowance (increasing to £14.17 per hour once trained)
Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 7:45am to 4:30pm, Friday 7:45am to 12:45pm
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent
The Role:
We are currently recruiting for a steelworks finisher to join a busy engineering and manufacturing business based in St Helen's. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced factory environment, offering long-term opportunities and progression once fully trained.
As a Repair Operative, you will be responsible for inspecting finished products and equipment for defects and damage. Once faults are identified, you will carry out the appropriate repair work to return products to required standards.
Duties will include small amounts of MIG welding, cutting and grinding materials, and straightening products either manually or using hydraulic equipment. You will also be expected to maintain high health and safety standards and ensure safe working practices are followed at all times.
This role would suit someone with experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or repair environment who is comfortable using tools and carrying out physical, hands-on work.
Experience / Skills Required:
- Previous experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or factory environment
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Basic MIG welding experience
- Experience carrying out cutting, grinding, and repair work
- Some knowledge of system scaffolding is advantageous
- Strong awareness of health and safety procedures
- Reliable with good attendance and timekeeping
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role is required for this position
