JDR Recruitment are recruiting for a Purchasing Manager for a manufacturing company in Oldham. This is a permanent role starting immediately. Salary starts at £30-£35k per annum, 39 hours per week over 4 days (Monday-Thursday) with flexi time between 6.45 am - 6.00 pm.

The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing quality materials, negotiating favourable terms with suppliers, and ensuring the efficient management of the supply chain. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the optimisation of procurement processes, support organisational growth, and maintain strong supplier relationships.

A solid understanding of ERP systems is essential, alongside expertise in logistics and supply chain management.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organisational goals.
  • Manage supplier relationships to secure competitive pricing and quality standards.
  • Oversee the end-to-end purchasing process, including order placement, tracking, and delivery.
  • Utilise ERP system to manage procurement data accurately.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings whilst maintaining quality.
  • Coordinate logistics to ensure timely delivery of goods and materials.
  • Monitor market trends and stay informed about new products or innovations relevant to organisational needs.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to forecast procurement requirements effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies and relevant regulations throughout all procurement activities.
Experience:
  • Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Demonstrable expertise in negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
  • Familiarity with logistics operations and supply chain management principles.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Previous experience working within a structured procurement environment is highly desirable.
