Location: Cardiff

Salary: £15.50 to £16.50 basic, to £33ph OT (time and a half for OT and Saturday, double time for Sunday)

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Lead Drainage Engineer to join our clients team based from Cardiff working in the commercial, construction, rail and industrial industries. You will work as part of a 3-person van team undertaking a variety of drainage and specialist works, including live CCTV surveys, high-pressure water jetting, confined space operations, and pipe rehabilitation projects. As the Lead Drainage Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality service to clients while leading on-site operations and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to professional standards. You will also be responsible for producing drainage reports, drawings, and detailed job sheets/notes. This role is ideal for a motivated and technically competent engineer who enjoys a hands-on environment and takes pride in delivering excellent service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a two-person team on drainage and specialist projects
  • Carry out CCTV drainage surveys and coding
  • Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment
  • Undertake confined space operations in accordance with safety regulations
  • Deliver pipe rehabilitation and drainage maintenance works
  • Produce professional drainage reports, drawings, and detailed job sheets/notes
  • Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to client specifications
  • Liaise professionally with clients, site teams, and management
  • Maintain company equipment and vehicle standards
  • Support high service standards and contribute to ongoing business growth

Experience Required

Essential

  • Full clean UK driving licence
  • Proven experience within the drainage industry
  • CSCS card (Green)
  • High Pressure Water Jetting certification
  • Strong experience in CCTV drainage surveying and coding (mandatory) using crawlers and pushrod cameras
  • Confined space training and practical experience
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to lead and work effectively within a small team
  • Professional and client-focused approach

Desirable

  • OS19x certification
  • PTS/COSS Highways passport
  • Experience in pipe rehabilitation techniques
  • Additional drainage industry accreditations or certifications
  • Experience working within the commercial, construction, rail and industrial industries
