JDR Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced HGV Mechanic to join our client's team based in Newport.
The role: Our client is a busy and reputable HGV workshop providing high-quality servicing, repairs, and diagnostics for HGV's. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a skilled and reliable HGV Mechanic to join their team. You will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and completing routine maintenance to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and meet manufacturer standards.
About you:
- Perform servicing, repairs, and maintenance on HGV vehicles
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools
- Carry out inspections and safety checks
- Replace parts such as brakes, clutches, suspension, engines, and exhaust systems, timing belt/chain changes to possible engine rebuilds.
- Complete job cards and service documentation accurately
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Communicate clearly with customers and colleagues
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a mechanic/automotive technician minimum 3 years
- HGV Class 1 licence preferred
- Relevant qualifications (NVQ/City & Guilds/IMI or equivalent preferred) or proven time service
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- MOT licence (desirable but not essential)
