Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Soft Services Manager to oversee the cleaning and soft facilities services at a large, fast‑paced warehouse and logistics site in Kettering.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the on-site cleaning operation, including a team of approximately 5-6 cleaners per shift, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, health & safety and service delivery are consistently maintained.
This is a hands‑on management role, requiring someone who is confident managing people, coordinating workloads and maintaining high standards within a busy warehouse and logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day cleaning and soft services operation across the site.
- Lead and manage a team of approximately 5-6 cleaners per shift.
- Allocate cleaning duties and ensure all areas of the site are maintained to the required standard.
- Monitor cleaning standards and carry out regular site inspections.
- Manage staff performance, attendance, timekeeping and conduct.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and training of cleaning staff where required.
- Manage cleaning schedules, rotas and staffing levels.
- Manage cleaning materials, equipment and stock levels.
- Ensure all cleaning activities are carried out in accordance with health & safety procedures.
- Deal with cleaning‑related issues or complaints and ensure they are resolved promptly.
- Work closely with the wider site management and warehouse operations teams.
- Complete regular audits and maintain accurate records and reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve cleaning standards, efficiency and service delivery.
- Ensure the team complies with company policies, procedures and site requirements.
- Manage and coordinate any additional cleaning requirements during busy periods or operational changes.
Requirements
- Previous experience managing a cleaning, soft services, housekeeping or facilities team.
- Experience managing a team of cleaners, ideally within a warehouse, logistics, distribution, industrial or large commercial environment.
- Strong people‑management and leadership skills.
- Experience managing rotas, attendance, performance and day‑to‑day team activities.
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on cleanliness and presentation.
- Good understanding of health & safety requirements within a workplace environment.
- Confident communicating with employees, management and site stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced operational environment.
- Experience managing 5+ cleaners or a similar-sized team would be advantageous.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm.
Due to the operational nature of the site, the successful candidate must be prepared to work occasional evenings and weekends when site requirements demand it.
