Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional with a background in manufacturing? Are you looking for an opportunity to take ownership of health and safety and build effective systems and processes from the ground up?

We are recruiting a Health & Safety Advisor to join a warehousing and manufacturing business based in Worsley, Salford. This is a brand-new position within the business, offering a fantastic opportunity for someone to establish and develop the company's health and safety function.

Working closely with the Site Manager, you will take ownership of health and safety across the site, introducing policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance, improve working practices and create a positive safety culture.

With no formal health and safety function currently in place, this role offers genuine autonomy and the opportunity to make a lasting impact on employee safety, regulatory compliance and environmental performance.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands‑on, working collaboratively with different departments and taking the initiative to develop effective systems from scratch.

What's on Offer?

  • £40,000 per annum.

  • Permanent, full‑time employment directly with the client.

  • Monday to Friday working pattern.

  • Flexible working hours between 7am and 5pm.

  • The option to work longer days during the week and enjoy a half‑day Friday.

  • The opportunity to build and develop the health and safety function from the ground up.

  • Autonomy to introduce policies, procedures and safety management systems.

  • A close working relationship with the Site Manager.

  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference to site safety and compliance.

The Role

As Health & Safety Advisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking ownership of health and safety across the manufacturing site, ensuring compliance with relevant UK legislation and HSE requirements.

  • Developing and implementing health and safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work.

  • Creating and maintaining risk assessments, method statements and other essential safety documentation.

  • Establishing effective systems and processes for managing workplace risks and maintaining compliance.

  • Conducting regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

  • Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.

  • Working closely with the Site Manager and departmental teams to address safety concerns and improve standards.

  • Promoting a positive, proactive health and safety culture throughout the business.

  • Monitoring compliance and identifying opportunities to improve health, safety and environmental performance.

  • Providing practical health and safety guidance and support to employees and management.

About You

We are looking for a confident, proactive Health & Safety professional who can work independently, take initiative and establish effective systems in an environment where formal processes are not yet in place.

You will ideally have:

  • A NEBOSH, IOSH, Diploma or equivalent HSEQ qualification.

  • A strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and HSE requirements.

  • Previous hands‑on experience working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience conducting audits, inspections and incident investigations.

  • Proven experience developing and implementing health and safety policies, procedures and systems.

  • The ability to identify risks, recommend improvements and implement practical solutions.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage with employees and management at all levels.

  • A practical, organised approach and the ability to take ownership of health and safety responsibilities.

Ready to Make Your Mark?

If you're an experienced Health & Safety professional looking for the opportunity to build something from scratch, take ownership of your role and make a genuine difference within a manufacturing business, we'd love to hear from you.

This is an excellent opportunity to put your experience into practice, establish effective safety systems and shape the future of health and safety within the business.
