We are looking for an experienced HGV Mechanic.

Location: Newport, South Wales

Job Type: Temp to Perm

Salary: £16-£20ph basic

Shift: 2 shift patterns available on days which accommodate excellent work life balance.

JDR Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced HGV Mechanic to join our client's team based in Newport.

The role: Our client is a busy and reputable HGV workshop providing high-quality servicing, repairs, and diagnostics for HGVs. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a skilled and reliable HGV Mechanic to join their team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and completing routine maintenance to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and meet manufacturer standards.

About you:

  • Perform servicing, repairs, and maintenance on HGV vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools.
  • Carry out inspections and safety checks.
  • Replace parts such as brakes, clutches, suspension, engines, and exhaust systems, timing belt/chain changes to possible engine rebuilds.
  • Complete job cards and service documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a mechanic/automotive technician minimum 3 years.
  • HGV Class 1 licence preferred.
  • Relevant qualifications (NVQ/City & Guilds/IMI or equivalent preferred) or proven time service.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • MOT licence (desirable but not essential).
